EcoUMED Awards Ceremony

On 10 January, the patio of MUL Library hosted a meeting of the participants of the contest of pro-ecological ideas organised for MUL students and employees. Awards were handed over to the authors of the best proposals.

The winners: Ewelina Gralak, Karolina Kamecka, Marek Kwiatkowski, Beata Romanowska and Adam Zawada received modern city bikes and gifts funded by Bikemia. We are grateful to our sponsor for their support.

Maciej Borowiec, Magdalena Krynke and Marta Ubysz were also rewarded with the     University sweatshirts sponsored by the Fund for Medical University of Lodz. All the contestants received diplomas and our University gifts.

The contest was organised within the framework of our university Programme of Sustainable Development, EcoUMED.

The ideas could be submitted within the following five categories: activities towards energy efficiency in the university infrastructure, waste management, water and sanitation management;  environment-friendly infrastructure in Green Campus; promotion measures to raise pro-ecological awareness of the academic community and Lodz region inhabitants; smog prevention ‘in earnest’: alternative means of transport for car users; ‘ECOlogically for health’ i.e. ideas how to change the habits which are harmful for the environment and how to promote habits which may improve our health status.

The partners of the contest included: MUL Research, Strategy and Development Office as well as MUL Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer. Patronage of Honour was held by prof. Radzisław Kordek, Rector of Medical University of Lodz.
