ECOcontest results

Medical University of Lodz has held a contest of pro-ecological initiatives intended for MUL students and employees, which was organised within the framework of EcoUMED programme. The ideas were submitted in the following five categories:

  1. Activities towards energy efficiency in the university infrastructure, waste management, water and sanitation management;
  2. Environment-friendly infrastructure and areas within CKD Green Campus;
  3. Promotion measures to raise pro-ecological awareness of the academic community and Lodz region inhabitants;
  4. Smog prevention ‘in earnest’: alternative means of city transport forregular car users;
  5. ‘ECOlogically for health’ i.e. ideas how to change the habits which are harmful for the environment and how to promote habits which may improve our health status.

 

The partners of the contest included: MUL Research, Strategy and Development Office as well as MUL Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer. Patronage of Honour was held by prof. Radzisław Kordek, Rector of Medical University of Lodz.

We were positively surprised by the large number of applications. We are glad to know that so many members of MUL community are into pro-ecological activities.

Modern city bikes funded by Bikemia will go to our five winners:

  • Ewelina Gralak

#ecoUMED_ideas: packet of ideas to cleverly exploit the ‘eco fashion’ in a good cause;

  • Karolina Kamecka

The water-loving: tap water promotion, as our city tap water is of very good quality (distribution system, MUL water bottles )

  • Marek Kwiatkowski

MUL on wheels: bonus system for the distance covered by bike when getting to work every day  as an incentive to use alternative means of transport;

  • Beata Romanowska

Garden surgeries as the basis for horticultural therapy:  using a beneficial influence of gardens on patients in therapy and rehabilitation;

  • Adam Zawada

Installation of indoor switches to turn off electricity when everyone has left the room and  sensor-controlled water taps in all of MUL buildings.

In addition, the jury rewarded three more ideas. MUL sweatshirts will go to:

  • Marta Ubysz
